Domain Names, Hosting and Emails

Domain names

Butterfly Internet can register and manage domain names for you for $50 plus GST per annum.

To register a .com.au domain name there must be a close and substantial connection between the domain name and your business or product. You must also provide your ABN.

For other domain names it must simply be available for you to register.

A word of warning when checking available domain names: only check domain names for availability when you are ready to purchase. Some people watch what people search for, and then try and purchase the domain names to resell to you.

Some technical features of our normal hosting set-up are as follows:

  1. Stored in a secure managed data centre in Canberra (with 24 x 7 staff)
  2. Shared server environment (unless you have a dedicated server)
  3. Control panel with access to tools such as back-up, email settings, statistics and much more
  4. The ability to create your own email accounts, email forwarders and auto responders whenever you like (although most clients get us to do it for them)
  5. Webmail to check your email from anywhere on the internet (Help on using webmail)
  6. PHP / mySQL

Email accounts

We can host your email accounts for you.

All that you require is a hosting package. Each package above has an indication of the number of email addresses that they are suitable for. However, the numbers listed are an indication only. One of the biggest issues is mailbox size. If you have several individuals that get large emails (eg regularly more than 10 MB per day), or you have set your computer to leave emails on the server after checking them, or do not check emails frequently then collectively you may require more hard drive space on your server for emails than the package.

You also get a control panel with access to tools such as email settings, statistics and more. This gives you the ability to create your own email accounts, email forwarders and auto responders whenever you like (although most clients get us to do it for them). You also have webmail to check your email from anywhere on the internet (Help on using webmail)

New email-only hosting package

For us to host your email accounts you need a domain name (eg www.butterflyinternet.com.au) and a hosting account.

We have a special internet only package for new email hosting:

  1. 1 x domain name
  2. 1 x standard hosting package
  3. Up to 5 email accounts
  4. A free generic holding page with your contact details (More information)
  5. Help on the phone to set-up the email accounts on your computer

Valued at $350 plus GST, the internet only special is the above for only $200 plus GST for the first year. To receive this discount you must contact us and mention it.
