Project Overview
Papua New Guinea Economic and Public Sector Program is a partnership between AusAid and Coffey International Development to stimulate economic growth and stability in PNG. The website provides information and a community forum for members and leaders of the program.
Technology & Design
The main site was originally developed by Butterfly using a Joomla CMS, so creating a mobile site meant designing and building new templates that can the be applied to the existing site content. The advantage is that the site content is managed only once, using the same Joomla article manager that is used for the website.
We began by planning a concise structure for the mobile content, creating a definitive hierarchy of content to work from. This planning led to a full wireframe of the mobile development which informed the design.
The design provides full navigation and site functionality without being cluttered and maintains the clean and stylish interface that we created for the website. The content pages use regular heading tags to identify paragraphs to hide in slide out areas, meaning long scrolling can be avoided, as the user firstly sees a list of headings, and simply clicks to view more on the topic they are interested in. The forum was also redesigned to fit in either a horizontal or vertical space.
The result is an exceptionally attractive and completely optimised mobile experience that allows the user to clearly and easily find and read content as well as communicate within the forum, all on their mobile device.
