Project Overview

Guild Insurance, a leading Australian business insurer since 1963, came to Butterfly with a complete solution requirement, as well as strategic advice in mind. With a new company focus on insurance as the main online source of leads, whilst splitting out other departments into their own online presence, the guildgroup.com.au existing site was ready for change.

And change things we did...!

From the outset, the goal behind the project was strategic analysis first, with design and development to follow after a clear path forward was decided on. Butterfly in the early stages helped guide Guild through the process of identifying the pro's and con's to their new online roadmap, whilst including developmental options in the decision-making process. The result, was a clear understanding of site and content function across both the new guildinsurance.com.and guildgroup.com.au.

The site architecture phase followed shortly after with a complete site wireframing and function spec, which in turn led to a speedy turn around on the design front. Guild were presented two website design options on request and immediately chose their new online look.

Technology & Design

The major challenge associated with the new architecture, was the delivery of profession specific content to all site users, without compromising the experience for those that it didnt effect.

To combat this problem, butterfly tackled the issue firstly from a front end usability perspective, and secondly from a content management point of view.

The result was a lightbox style, one click, profession picker on only the relevant insurance types. Followed by an advanced joomla component designed to assign articles by profession on entry. To the user, all profession specific site content is delivered seamlessly after profession selection, and can be changed at any time if a different profession is required.

Project Conclusion

On finalising the project, Guild Insurance was presented with a completely new online look, and revamped content management system to work with them better in the area of content input. The site now also caters for 2 new divisions of the business, whilst bringing into focus a new online customer centre as proposed by Butterfly.
