Project Overview

foodintol.com was developed as a support community to help educate people with food intolerances and food allergies.

As a site that was generally quite content-heavy, it was important for Butterfly to understand foodintol’s key message and employ an architectural strategy. This ensured users were being directed to the most relevant information available that is specifically related to their intolerance/sensitivity.

foodintol® has spent years researching symptoms of various food intolerances and sensitivities. Consequently, this website has helped thousands of people understand their overall health and dietary requirements more extensively. In addition to this, they have also compiled many dining and shopping guides that are available for purchase through the shopping cart facility.

Butterfly’s goal was to structure the content of the new site in a way that enabled more accessible content, by improving search functionality. The result of this is a better user experience for the customer.

Technology & Design

The design of the site was important to the client as there was a need to avoid making the content appear too clinical, as it could potentially turn users off. To adhere to this design brief, we intentionally avoided using the colours white and blue as these are typically associated with medical professionals.

The use of bright colours including yellow, green and orange, keeps the experience friendly and engaging and the result was a colourful and fun website.  For maximum aesthetic impact, some of the key design features include the beautiful drop down menus with large, inviting pictures that make the experience fun and attractive. The inclusion of eye-catching accordion-style structure for the content is also designed to make it easy to include as much information on each page as possible.

Project Conclusion

The new site has been a success for the client as it is not only better-looking, but it also has easy-to-follow menus and key information that can be sought easily, enhancing the overall experience of customers through content that is approachable and engaging.
