Website development process

The process for developing your website is as follows:

1. Design

a. Questionnaire: We will email you a questionnaire that will ask you marketing and other questions to provide our designer the background to prepare several concepts for you. Please fill this in as detailed as you can before emailing it back.

b. Home page first concept: Our designer will provide you with a first concept for the home page design, which will then be refined from your feedback. Please be as direct and honest as possible as it is the best way for us to understand your requirements.

c. Provision of content: You (or the relevant parties) supply all of the text and images for the site in electronic format so that our designer can complete design of the site template for all the other pages as well as any other elements that require design.

d. Design sign off: Once our graphic designer finalises the designs and you sign off on all of the elements we can proceed to start building the site.

2. Build

a. Commencement: Our programmer works with the content that you have provided plus the designs and other instructions to build your site on our test servers.

b. Review: Once our programmer has gone as far as he can by himself he will email you a link to the site under construction plus a questionnaire. Please go through your entire site and provide the site changes required to finalise your site. This step may involve several rounds of review.

c. Live: Once your site is finished we can put it live onto the internet.

3. Training: We give you training on how to use your site, as well as show you how to use our online training help

4. Online marketing: Online marketing (if included) commences after the site is live. Depending on your project this may involve search engine work or many other techniques

5. Three Month Free Service period: To ensure that you are supported when your site first goes live

6. Warranty period. A three year warranty is provided for all Butterfly Internet sites

A typical website takes four to six weeks in total from start to finish. Some projects are much faster (our record is 12 hours), while complex custom projects can take many months. We can be very flexible, please let us know if you have important deadlines and we will guarantee that we have your site up for you.
